02.05.12: Important Deadlines: Please encourage your students to run for state office (may campaign at conference with handouts, posters etc) and to apply for the Legacy of Life Scholarship (Application) and FPSA scholarship (Application). Scholarships are due to Mr. Stoel by February 15. T-shirt orders are due to Mr. Scaglione or Mr. Stoel by Monday, February 06, 2012.
Please send in your membership and conference fees as soon as possible. Mr. Stoel would like them by February 15 but understands some of you may not be able to meet the deadline. Please try to get them in by February 27 at the latest. Mr. Scaglione is meeting with the hotel soon and Mr. Stoel will provide an itinerary after that.

01.07.11: A big welcome goes out to our newest chapter, Trenton High School Teacher Assisting Chapter. Their advisor is Ms. Char Leasor, and they have 14 members. We welcome them and look forward to many years of working with them through FPSA.

12.27.11: Please let Ray Stoel know if you have any students who will have participated at state conference for four years, and please provide their names. Trophies have been ordered, and these names need to be sent to the Trophy Shop. Chris Scaglione and Ray Stoel have discussed traffic accident report writing. We are keeping the event; however, the students will be required to fill out the FHP short report which still requires a diagram. You should be able to obtain copies of these from your local agencies. Finally, please send in your dues as soon as possible, and let Mr. Stoel know if you are attending the leadership training/board meeting on Jan 20th and how many you will bring.
12.11.11: The date for our Board Meeting/Leadership Training has been changed to Jan. 20, 2012, from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. While we are having the meeting, our state officers will be conducting leadership training for your chapter officers.
The location is the Southeastern Public Safety Institute in St. Pete, Fl. We will be in the Allstate Center located at 3200 34th Street South, St. Petersburg, 33711. The board meeting will be in room AC-110 and the leadership training will be in AC 103 (Desota Room). Thanks to the Pinellas Park High School CJ Academy for helping set this up.
FPSA will be providing lunch as the board meeting may be a working lunch. Please contact Ray Stoel if you plan on attending and how many you are bringing in order to plan for lunch.
12.11.11: Congratulations to Patrick Treese, Advisor of New High School CJ program, for his recent graduation from the Police Academy. We would also like to welcome back Reggie Jackson who is the CJ teacher and advisor at Miami Carol City Senior High School.

11.04.11: Legacy of Life Obituaries will be a sponsor for FPSA and will provide scholarships at our state competition. Scholarship applications are due February 15, 2012.

09.10.11: The Traffic accident report writing has been eliminated from the competition. It has been increasingly difficult to find judges who are willing to set down and go through all the entries. The form has changed this year, and it would take them even longer. As a result, the event has been discontinued.
05.01.11: Due to the efforts of Mr. William Marshal, FPSA is now an official Certifying Organization for the President's Volunteer Service Awards Program. Any individual, family, or group can receive Presidential recognition for volunteer hours earned over a 12-month period or over the course of a lifetime at home or abroad. This award has several categories that students and advisors can earn. They are divide by age groups as described below:
Kids: Age 5-14
Young Adults: Individual Age 15-25
Adults: Individual Age 26 + Presidential Volunteer Service
Award Criteria
Bronze Level:
Kids: 50 to 74 hours
Young Adults: 100 to 174 hours
Adults: 100 to 249 hours
Family & Groups: 200 to 499 hours
Silver Level:
Kids: 75 to 99 hours
Young Adults: 175 to 249 hours
Adults: 250 to 499 hours
Family & Groups: 500 to 999 hours
Gold Level:
Kids: 100 hours or more
Young Adults: 250 hours or more
Adults: 500 hours or more
Family & Groups: 1000 hours or more
President's Call to Service Award
For volunteers that have given over 4000 hours or more of volunteer service over a lifetime. *This might be an excellent award to give advisors who have worked for years helping FPSA.
Mr. Marshal made the dates for FPSA year to run from April 1 to March 31 so awards could be ordered and presented at our annual conference. The cost of each award will run approximately $5.00 for the certificate and lapel pin.
